Yes. All children must be toilet-trained prior to the start of camp. We do understand that accidents do happen. Please send an extra pair of clothes.
Sessions may be moved within Summer 2025 at no extra cost as long as there is space availability. Extending your child(ren)’s number of weeks at camp (example: extending from 2 to 4 weeks) will be subject to availability and the fees that are in effect at the time of the change. Shortening your child(ren)’s enrolment dates (example: shortening your weeks from 6 to 4 weeks) prior to May 1, 2025 will result in your camp fees being adjusted for the enrolled weeks and a refund will be available for the outstanding balance. After May 1, 2025 no refunds are permitted.
Campers are grouped by their birth year. For pre-JK, and JK campers, cabin groups are co-ed based on registration and grouping requests. Once campers have finished SK, groups are divided by gender. To ensure an easy transition into camp, we do everything possible to ensure that each child receives at least one mutual friend request. All grouping requests are taken during the application process or in writing to the camp office. All grouping requests must be made by May 1st. Requests that are too wide in age range will not be accommodated as it impacts the quality of the experience and programs for all campers
The Richmond Hill Country Club Day Camp is conveniently located just north of Highway 407 on Bathurst Street, making it the ideal location for driving, carpooling, biking or walking to. Our convenient location means your child will not need to spend long periods of time on the bus traveling to and from camp. Connecting with families each morning and afternoon are integral to our camp's fundamental goals. We offer extended hours from 7:45 am to 5:45 pm
Campers can be dropped off between 8:45 and 9:10 am and picked up from 3:50 - 4:10 pm. We also offer extended hours (included in our fees) from 7:45 am to 5:45 pm
Yes! Our campers enjoy a healthy, nutritious, kid-friendly meal daily, prepared by our catering department at the Richmond Hill Country Club. Campers also receive snacks daily - please see our website under Lunch and Snacks
We are able to accommodate most dietary restrictions. We do offer vegetarian meals and gluten free meals. Please reach out to the camp director for more information at j.wolkoff@richmondhillcountryclub.com
At camp, we strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive and grow as individuals. This is one of the goals of our camp. We serve youth with a variety of assets and abilities within our scope of service and invite campers that are ready to have fun, relax, learn in a supportive environment, try new things, and benefit from positive relationships with peers and adult role models in an outdoor setting.
Campers must be able to perform basic tasks independently: toilet, dress, and eat; navigate terrain, and respond appropriately to verbal and visual safety instructions.
We work hard with our families to curb unwanted behaviours. Occasionally, we find that a camper might be outside of our scope of service as they are unable to follow our camper code of conduct. Youth may not yet be able to meet the behavioral and social expectations of the camp environment if they have: regular 1-on-1 assistance by a specialist at home or school; receiving support for social-emotional needs or self-harm; violent outbursts or extreme emotional dysregulation including running from the group or hurting other campers by being physical; attended day treatment or residential programs; have not stabilized on new meds or new dosages of regular meds. If your child can be described by one or more of these statements, please call to discuss the best path forward.
Some children do require extra support to integrate into the camp program and group setting. Our philosophy at RHCCDC is geared towards inclusion and we very much want the child to experience the summer camp program.
We recognize that in order to get the most out of the summer camp experience and ensure their safety, it may be necessary for your child to have a one-to-one guardian to support throughout the camp day (provided independently by the parent) . If you think your child may require additional support at camp due to exceptionalities or group dynamics, please reach out to the Camp Director at the time of registration to discuss support.
Please note that the camp reserves the right to limit a child's attendance once the camp season begins should the child who requires a one-to-one guardian not have such support in place.
Yes! We are very fortunate to boast a world class indoor facility right next door. While we still have some outdoor activities on hot days, we do have large periods of time where campers are brought indoors to our air-conditioned facilities, including our tennis courts and multi-purpose rooms. Unlike other camps, our programs go on without a hitch, with some minor adjustments. We are also fortunate to have an indoor pool and we swim rain or shine!
Our sessions are in two-week increments. Having campers remain for a two-week period ensures that they are able to get the most out of their camp experience. This allows for campers to establish strong friendships over a two-week period and experience all of the great programs in a two-week period.
We were informed on January 11, 2022 that Red Cross will no longer be offering a Red Cross swim program. The Lifesaving Society is a respected, accomplished organization that has established a program to develop water safety skills and promote the love of swimming. Our badges might be different but our commitment to a high quality swim program will be as strong as ever!
Campers do not need to be vaccinated against COVID 19 to attend camp. However, we encourage families to be vaccinated when eligible.
We do not have a special kosher or halal meat option unfortunately. However, our meat options are 100% beef and do not contain pork ingredients. We do have a vegetarian option for those campers that require it. Please be sure to reach out to our camp director at campdirector@richmondhillcountryclub.com for more information.
Children registered for Extended Hours can only be picked up after 4:15pm. We are unable to accommodate pick ups during regular dismissal.
This year, we will start camp on Canada Day (we are closed on the Monday instead) and we are closed on the Civic Holiday in August.
